Justin T. Burris, Ed.D. taught elementary students and teachers for 17 years as a teacher and mathematics coach before joining the University of Houston where he is currently a clinical associate professor of mathematics education. He teaches math content courses, elementary math methods courses and supervises resident teachers in their year-long field placements. His research interests are elementary student use of virtual manipulatives, mathematical content knowledge for teaching, and connecting mathematics to students’ lived experiences in the classroom.
